dinner with delicious magazine

the menu!
I was lucky enough recently to be invited to a "meet-the-Editor" dinner at Delicious Magazine. It was a chance for the magazine to talk to some of their readers and to find out what we really think about food magazines; what we like to eat, cook and what sort of food do we aspire to cook.

I have been reading Delicious Magazine since it was first published in UK, nearly 10 years ago, and have always enjoyed its combination of interesting recipes and beautiful photography and styling. They have always included a wide and absorbing variety of articles from pieces by well-known chefs and those who are up-and-coming to informed opinion around organic fruit and vegetables. But it really is rather satisfying to know that this is a magazine that can put its money where its mouth is - our dinner was glorious!

We started with a fabulous selection of canapés (like tapas and meze, my favourite type of food) - a quick nibble of cheese and Marmite straws, parmesan and anchovy straws. There was a wo
nderful smoked salmon and dill pâté on blinis, little rosemary scones with goat's cheese and red onion marmalade and rather celestial slices of peach and mozzarella wrapped in Parma ham.

We were given a fantastic Hugo cocktail - which is a mixture of Prosecco and elderflower with a little mint - refreshing and thirst quenching.

Our main course was thyme roasted chicken with cream, served with roasted crushed new potatoes, broad beans and peas with Parma ham crisps and lemon butter. I thought I would faint with pleasure.

And pudding was a lovely middle eastern-style raspberry and lemon cake with cardamom cream. It was simply delicious.

There was wine, lots of wine to match the food and I left after an evening of great chat, with my fellow guests and the Editor, Karen Barnes, as well as Lizzie Kamenetzky, Food Editor (they look just like their photos!), clutching a delicious Delicious goodie bag, feeling very merry indeed!
