so excited and just can't hide it . . .

I am so excited, though a bit nervous too, as I was asked by my local library if I would like to take part in their Adult Learners Week programme of events.

I adore libraries. I think they are one of the most fabulous of local resources. It is what makes us civilised! So on being asked to run a
taster session on How to Start a Blog I could hardly say no. so I said yes. And while I am really excited I am also thinking yikes, what happens if no-one turns up?

I am firmly convinced that the old adage that everyone has a book in them is wrong, but that everyone has a blog in them, they just might not know it yet!

So I get to run a two-hour (double yikes) session on all the things you need to think about before setting up a blog (so you don't make all the mistakes that I threw myself head first into!). This isn't a technical how-to session, more of a chat about how to work out what you want to blog about and how to stick with it once you do.  There's a few ideas on design (not that I practice what I preach, but I do have a working background in media, marketing and design, so I actually understand the basics!). I also have some ideas on how to create topics to write about and how to build up your readership.

Essentially, it is all the things I have learned in two years of blogging - I made the mistakes, so you don't have to!

If you know anyone who would like to come along, could you please pass on this message. You may well know someone who just needs a gentle push to attending (a bit like me a few months ago with joining a choir - I needed a kicking but am delighted someone but the boot in!)

Date: Monday 20th May
Where: Kentish Town Library262-266 Kentish Town Road, London, NW5 2AA
Time: 2.30 - 4.30pm
Cost: Free

I may even bake a cake . . .

By the way, if any of you bloggers or readers have some handy tips out there, I would only be too delighted to receive them!
